NIPSEY HUSSLE'S ACCUSED KILLER APPEARS IN COURT, PLEADS "NOT GUILTY"


California native Eric Holder, the man accused of gunning down rapper and community leader Nipsey Hussle and injuring two other, appears in court, entering a plea of "Not guilty."

Represented by former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Chris Darden, Holder was charge with murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Bail was set at $5 million.

Nipsey Hussle was a grammy nominated rapper know for his active involvement with his community and philanthropic efforts.


MICK JAGGER RECOVERS FROM HEART SURGERY

Rolling Stones iconic frontman recovers in hospital following a successful operation on his heart.

Speaking to CNN, a representative of the legendary performer stated that Jagger is doing well following a replacement of his heart valve.

The Rolling Stones have postponed their North America tour in light of this news.


AVICII'S FAMILY COMMENT ON DJ'S DEATH, ANNOUNCE POSTHUMOUS ALBUM

Family member of the late Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, have publicly addressed the late musicians death as suicide for the first time in public. This comes in light of the news that a posthumous album, titled TIM, is on its way following a decision by his family to release the last songs the Swedish EDM icon worked on.

Avicii infamously left no note, with his death coming to the shock of many considering his recent decision to retire from music in order to focus on his mental and physical health. Critics and fans have speculated that the latest album may provide answers


BILLIE ELLISH BECOMES YOUNGEST EVER FEMALE SOLO ARTIST TO TOP THE UK CHARTS


Overtaking Joss Stone, the Californian musician has made history with her debut album. Beating out UK stalwarts DAVE and Foals, the 17 year old musician soared to the top ranking following the release of the gothic trap odyssey 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?'




GLOBAL MUSIC SALES HIT $19 BILLION IN 2018


In a summary of the annual report from The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Pitchfork have noted that music made from music in 2018 has increased by 9.7% to hit a total of $19 Billion.

Also of note was the fact that it was the highest amount on record and the fourth consecutive year of increased profits. Close to half (47%) of all revenue came from streaming, while both physical and downloaded music both saw marked declines


RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY AND RADIO TO SHUT LATER THIS YEAR


Red Bull Music Academy is set to shut its doors for the last time later this year. One of the longest running and most prestigious programmes of its kind, the organisers have cited a mutual agreement to part ways with ownership this October. They also issued the following statement:


"After 20 years of supporting artists worldwide with its music program in a rapidly changing world, Red Bull will maintain its purpose of providing a global platform to promote creativity—but it is changing the means of delivery. Red Bull will be moving away from a strongly centralized approach, will gradually phase out the existing structure and will implement a new setup which empowers existing Red Bull country teams and utilizes local expertise. Red Bull will continue to explore new ways to support promising and cutting-edge artists wherever they may be."


Leading Irish music blogger Nialler9 spoke highly of the programs in his own post, lauding "The sheer attention to detail, personnel, creativity... The high standard of music and presentation was unparalleled in the music and brand space."
